On 6 August 2018, the Polish NCP received a specific instance from an NGO called the Development Yes – Open Pit Mines No! Foundation, concerning the alleged non-observance of the OECD Guidelines by Group PZU S.A., a multinational enterprise operating in the financial sector. The submitter claims that the company did not include information on its environmental impacts and climate-related matters in its non-financial statement for 2017.

On 8 November 2018, the Polish NCP accepted the case for further examination and the parties agreed to the NCP’s provision of good offices. Following meetings between the company and the submitter and with the Polish NCP present, an agreement was reached between the parties. The company emphasised that its 2018 non-financial statement addressed a majority of the submitter’s expectations and that its report was prepared in accordance with GRI Standards. The submitter expressed its satisfaction with the statement relative to the company’s non-financial statement from 2017.

On 26 July 2019, the Polish NCP published its final statement, recommending that the company continue implementing policies on respecting human rights and environmental protection, and continue to make the relevant disclosures in its non-financial statements.

As agreed in the Final Assessment, on 7 August 2020, the Polish NCP invited the parties to participate in a meeting aimed at presenting information on the progress made by the PZU S.A. Group with regard to the notification considered in the proceedings before the Polish NCP. As the result of exchange of information between the parties during the meeting, the Polish NCP prepared a Monitoring Note (follow-up statement). The text of the statement was agreed between the parties on 18 February 2021 and published by the Polish NCP on 1 March 2021.
