Summary | Read the initial assessment issued by the French NCP – 16 November 2015 In August 2015, the French NCP received a request for review from an American NGO “Americans for Democracy and Human Rights in Bahrain”. The NGO questioned whether human rights had been respected and whether due diligence was applied in the sale of security equipment products to a Gulf country which could have been used to potentially violate human rights. The said products fall under a specific export regulation in France. In its initial assessment the French NCP notes that the request made by the NGO is eligible as it is precise, detailed and well documented. The NCP notes that the questions raised by the NGO merit further consideration. This conclusion does not determine whether the enterprise acted in conformity with the OECD Guidelines or not. The NCP offered its good offices to both parties which they accepted. Good offices are currently ongoing. |
