In June 2011, the Argentinian NCP received a request for review from the NGO Foro Ciudadano de Participación para la Justicia y los Derechos Humanos alleging that the multinational enterprises Barrick Exploraciones Argentina, SA and Minera Argentina Gold, SA had breached the concepts and principles, general policies, disclosure, environment, and human rights provisions of the Guidelines with their mining activities in Argentina.

In December 2011 the NGO added additional information to their request and, after undertaking an initial assessment, the NCP decided to accept the specific instance in May 2013. The NCP has held several meetings with both parties. The NGO has responded to the enterprise’s presentation and the NCP has conveyed this response to the enterprise, who informed the NCP that it will prepare a response. The NCP has been actively seeking to engage the parties in bilateral conversations.
