Summary

In November 2009, the Peruvian NCP received a request for review from the Peruvian Unitary Confederation of Workers and the Trade Union of the Telecommunications activity SITENTEL alleging that some of the companies making up Telefonica Group in Peru had breached the employee and industrial relations provisions of the Guidelines by not initiating negotiations to reach a collective agreement on employment conditions.

The NCP is providing assistance to parties and has been in contact with representatives from SITENTEL and Telefonica del Perú. Moreover,  the NCP has been co-ordinating with the Ministry of Labour and Employment Promotion on the subject and received information on all pending administrative procedures with Telefónica Group companies. At the same time it has been tracking the new draft Labour Law which is in evaluation in the Congress and includes provisions tending to facilitate collective bargaining procedures between the parties.
