Latin American workshop on responsible mineral supply chains

 

1-2 December 2016 Bogota, Colombia

The Government of Colombia and the OECD are hosting this regional workshop to exchange best practices around mineral supply chains in Latin America.

The workshop will enable participants to:

  • Learn about international standards and national regulations on responsible mineral supply chains and relevant market expectations, with a focus on responsible gold
  • Understand the specific role of government, industry and stakeholders to promote responsible supply chains in Latin America.
  • Exchange on best practices and strengthen synergies to enhance implementation of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Minerals Supply Chains in Latin America, including through industry and multi-stakeholder initiatives
  • Explore specific solutions to address supply chain challenges, including formalisation of the artisanal and small-scale mining sector, the role of law enforcement, implementation of the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative and meaningful stakeholder engagement in the extractive sector.
