OECD unveils new initiative for Responsible Business Conduct in MENA Region & Türkiye

The OECD, in strategic partnership with the governments of Germany and Switzerland, is proud to announce the launch of a new three-year programme to promote responsible business practices in the MENA region and Türkiye. This initiative marks a key step towards strengthening implementation of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct.

On 4-5 December 2023, the OECD Istanbul Centre will bring together government representatives, businesses, trade unions, and civil society from Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia and beyond to discuss responsible business conduct for sustainable development. The event "Responsible Today – Sustainable Tomorrow," will feature high-level panels, stakeholder discussions, and workshops, as well as the launch of the Arabic and Turkish translations of the updated OECD Guidelines.

Highlights of the Event
  • Day 1: The event will commence with an inaugural session setting the scene for regional cooperation on Responsible Business Conduct. This will be followed by a policymakers' panel discussing the role of responsible business conduct in sustainable development and a stakeholders' panel to identify priority areas for action on RBC in the MENA region and Türkiye.
  • Day 2: The day will begin with an overview of the RBC programme for the MENA region and Türkiye, followed by discussions on RBC experiences from Latin America and a deep dive into priorities for National Contact Points for Responsible Business Conduct.
