About the reportIn recent years, blockchain technology has been advertised as a tool to address pressing issues in supply chain due diligence such as establishing traceability, sharing accurate risk information, and improving the transparency of supply chain actors. This technology has already been used in a significant number of supply chain due diligence initiatives across different sectors which has revealed both drawbacks and benefits.
This paper takes a critical look at how blockchain technology is currently being developed and used to advance due diligence in supply chains. It includes considerations for how responsible business conduct objectives can be integrated into emerging blockchain initiatives in a consistent and effective way.
This paper will be presented and discussed during the 2019 OECD Global Blockchain Policy Forum in Paris on 12-13 September 2019. See also OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct
