Forum on due diligence in the 3Ts and Gold supply chains

4th meeting of the ICGLR-OECD-UN GoE multi-stakeholder forum

28-30 November 2012 - OECD Conference Centre, Paris, France

Forum participants assessed how companies are implementing  the OECD Due Diligence Guidance to enable responsible sourcing in both the Tin, Tantalum and Tungsten (3Ts) and Gold supply chains.

The meeting was a forum to:

  • Examine the one year pilot implementation phase of the 3Ts Supplement in Africa's Great Lakes Region

Participants tracked progress, shared lessons learned and solutions to overcoming challenges identified during the pilot period. The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss initiatives that have created economically viable market access opportunities for responsibly sourced 3Ts from the Great Lakes region.

  • Foster experience-sharing on due diligence practices for responsible sourcing of gold from conflict and high-risk areas

Participants explored concrete opportunities for enabling market access for responsibly sourced gold from artisanal sources, including through the creation of appropriate incentives. Participants also discussed specific activities for the implementation programme of the Gold Supplement.

  • Discuss the long-term governance structure for the OECD-hosted process on due diligence implementation

This meeting was jointly organised by the OECD, the ICGLR, and the UN Group of Experts on the Democratic Republic of Congo.
