The Government of Colombia and the OECD are hosting this regional workshop to exchange best practices around mineral supply chains in Latin America.
The workshop will enable participants to:
- Learn about international standards and national regulations on responsible mineral supply chains and relevant market expectations, with a focus on responsible gold
- Understand the specific role of government, industry and stakeholders to promote responsible supply chains in Latin America.
- Exchange on best practices and strengthen synergies to enhance implementation of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Minerals Supply Chains in Latin America, including through industry and multi-stakeholder initiatives
- Explore specific solutions to address supply chain challenges, including formalisation of the artisanal and small-scale mining sector, the role of law enforcement, implementation of the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative and meaningful stakeholder engagement in the extractive sector.
