Summary | Read the Initial Assessment published by the NCP 24 August 2022: English On 10 December 2021, Marque Lawyers on behalf of affected individuals submitted a specific instance to the AusNCP alleging that Qatar Airways, an Australian registered foreign company active in the transportation sector, had not observed the Human Rights (Chapter IV) provisions of the Guidelines in relation to an incident at Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar. Specifically, the incident involved the discovery of a new-born baby and airport officials allegedly forcing various women to undergo non-consensual physical examinations. The submitters allege the violations on the Guidelines by the enterprise related to the forced removal of women from flights, as well as the subsequent reaction of the airline to the women’s concerns. On 24 August 2022, the AusNCP published an initial assessment determining that the case merited further examination. The Independent Examiner will move to offer good offices to the parties involved. It is noted that the submitters indicated that legal proceedings would soon be commenced in parallel. #contributed #directlylinked #civilandpoliticalrights #shippingandlogistics #parallelproceedings #confidentiality #state-ownedenterprise |
