Summary | In November 2004 the Belgian NCP received a request for review by an NGO and the United Nations Expert Panel on Illegal Exploitation of Natural Resources and Other Forms of Wealth of the Democratic Republic of Congo alleging that the Forrest Group had breached the provisions of the Guidelines, specifically related to disclosure, health and safety of workers, and an innappropriate relationship with the local government. The NCP met five times to analyse the specific instance and in three occasions the parties involved were present. Following these consultations, on 8 November 2005, the NCP issued a public statement (in French) recommending to the Forrest Group that they disclose accurate financial, social and environmental information. After this statement the NCP concluded the specific instance. |
