On 16 July 2020, Mr. Douglas Linares Flinto, an individual, submitted a specific instance to the Brazilian NCP, alleging that Petrobras S.A, a Brazilian state-owned oil and gas company, had not observed the Concepts and Principles (Chapter I), Disclosure (Chapter III) and Human Rights (Chapter IV) provisions of the Guidelines. The issues were related to access and disclosure of personal information.
On 12 August 2020, the Brazilian NCP undertook an initial assessment whereby it decided that the issues raised merited further examination.
On 9 October 2020, the Brazilian NCP accepted the case.
The NCP is currently offering its good offices to the parties.
