In August 2014 the German NCP received a request for review from a German individual who alleged that a German company had breached the general principles provisions of the Guidelines in Germany. More specifically the individual alleged that the company had breached the provision which stipulates that no discriminatory or disciplinary action shall be taken against employees who in good faith report to the management.

According to the Guideline's Procedural Guidance, the NCP began an initial assessment as to whether the issues raised in the request warranted a more detailed examination. However, in a parallel labour court proceeding the individual and the company agreed on a court settlement. The individual thereupon withdrew their request that the NCP review the issues. The NCP therefore duly concluded the specific instance and issued a final statement to this effect.
