Summary

On 13 December 2022, Survival International Italia ETS, the Italian office of an international NGO focused on Indigenous Rights, submitted a specific instance to the Italian NCP alleging that an Italian company active in the manufacturing sector (leather), had not observed the Concepts and Principles (Chapter I), General Policies (Chapter II), Disclosure (Chapter III), Human Rights (Chapter IV), Environment (Chapter VI), and Consumer Interests (Chapter VIII) provisions of the Guidelines. Specifically, alleged issues relate to the importation of skins from Paraguayan tanneries involved in deforestation and, consequently, in the violation of the rights of local indigenous populations.

The NCP is currently conducting its initial assessment.
