Summary | Read the Initial Statement published by the NCP on 25 February 2025: English On 25 November 2024, JBB (Justice Beyond Borders) and JFI (Justice for Iran), 2 NGOs, submitted a specific instance to the Korean NCP alleging that Jino Motors Co., Ltd, a manufacturer and exporter of special-purpose vehicles, had not observed the General Policies (Chapter II), Human Rights (Chapter IV) and Environment (Chapter VI) provisions of the Guidelines. Specifically, issues concerned the sale of water cannon vehicles by the respondent to the Islamic Republic of Iran, which were allegedly used by the Iranian government to suppress protests, resulting in human rights violations against demonstrators. The Korean NCP conducted an initial assessment and, on 25 February 2025, published a statement deciding not to accept the specific instance for further examination as consideration of the issues would not contribute to the purposes and effectiveness of the Guidelines. #directlylinked #duediligence #civilandpoliticalrights #pollutionandwastemanagement #automotive #coordination #SME |
