Summary | Read the Final Statement published by the NCP 10 September 2024: English On 17 June 2015, the NGO Wider Earthquake Canterbury Network (WECAN), on behalf of two individuals, submitted a specific instance to the NZ NCP alleging that an enterprise, via its subsidiary, active in the construction and financial and insurance activities sectors had not observed the General Policies (Chapter II) and Human Rights (Chapter IV) provisions of the Guidelines. Specifically, issues related to the consideration of earthquake-related damages to investment/rental property in Christchurch following the events of the 2010 and 2011 Canterbury earthquakes. The NZ NCP received ten specific instances related to the earthquakes. The specific instance was not formally closed until 10 September 2024, when the NCP published a final statement deciding not to accept the case for further examination. The decision was made as the issues raised could not be considered material and substantiated. #directlylinked #ESCR #insurance #parallelproceedings #localsubsidiary #Internationalhumanrightstreaties |
