OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector
2-4 February 2021 OECD Conference Centre, Paris
The 2021 forum will take place from 2-4 February 2021. A decision will be taken nearer the date to determine whether the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic will enable the forum to take place at the OECD Conference Centre in Paris or whether it will be organised virtually.
Call for proposals for partner sessions
The OECD is currently conducting a call for proposals for partners who wish to host a session at the 2021 forum. Download the terms of the call for proposals. The deadline for submission is 25 September 2020.
11-13 February 2020 OECD Conference Centre, Paris
The 2020 forum focused on "Due Diligence in a shifting context”. Over 500 representatives from government, business, trade unions and civil society discussed the application of responsible business conduct within the sector in a neutral environment.
Plenary discussions explored how due diligence can be reconciled with trade tensions as well as the various shades of grey around mandatory due diligence. This year’s forum also provided the opportunity to explore how technology can support monitoring and worker engagement, SMEs and due diligence, and due diligence implications of circular supply chain models in the sector.
OECD Roundtable for Policy Makers
Held in lead-up to the OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector, this second annual Roundtable convened policy makers from across key economies engaged in the garment and footwear sector and its supply chain to discuss policy options for enabling and promoting vibrant and responsible supply chains in the garment and footwear sector. It took stock of existing policy options and government-backed initiatives in the sector, explored how national textile strategies can support and enable responsible business conduct in the sector, as well as discussed how governments can achieve greater harmonisation on due diligence disclosure.
The Roundtable was open to government officials from OECD member and adhering governments, governments from key economies in the sector and representatives from intergovernmental organisations.
