Responsible sourcing of gold in India
6 December 2019 India Habitat Centre, New Delhi
On December 6, 2019, the OECD and the India Gold Policy Centre at IIM Ahmedabad will organise a workshop on responsible sourcing of gold in India, with the support of the Indian Bullion and Jewellers Association. The event will take place at the India Habitat Centre.
The event targeted at key decision-makers in the supply chain of organisations where precious metals are an essential raw material, and the regulating agencies and departments in the government. It was attended by stakeholders from across the value chain in the gold industry and representatives of international industry schemes on responsible sourcing that are recognised by the OECD. Participants from India included banks, refiners, bullion dealers, jewelers and consumers of gold at an industrial level.
The workshop is expected enabled participants to become more familiar with international standards and industry programmes focusing on the responsible sourcing of gold. The workshop also allowed participants to take stock of domestic efforts to develop transparent supply chains of precious metals.
